Ooo, cake!

Joy at Blackfriars Cambridge today for the First Profession of four of our novice brethren.

Families and friends, Friars, Sisters and Lay Dominicans filled the chapel of the English Provincial Noviciate House, the priory of St Michael, on the house's patronal feast, to support and rejoice with the four young men making their vows.

Speaking of feasts...

The cake!

The Prior Provincial, fr John Farrell OP, presided and preached at the Eucharist and received the vows of the four, on behalf of the Master of the Order of Preachers, fr Bruno Cadoré.

The Mass was moving and the celebrations delightful. Many thanks to the brethren of Blackfriars for their hospitality and to Our Lady and St Michael for the glorious weather. The sun shone as, tucking into the delicious buffet prepared (for the most part, anyway) by the recently-clothed new novice friars, we spilled from the cloister into the lovely Blackfriars garden.

Brothers Luke, Toby, Jordan and Sam now move to Blackfriars Oxford for their years of study. The Lord be with them.

St Dominic, pray for them and for us.
